Each entry is one site: what physically stands there, what the sky does above it, and which questions are still genuinely open.
How a place gets into this archive
Three things have to be true. There has to be something physically there that can be examined. There has to be at least one question about it that competent people still disagree on. And there has to be enough published material to check claims against, rather than just repeat them.
That last condition rules out a lot of what circulates online. It also means some sites here are famous for the wrong reasons, and I have included a few of those deliberately, because "why do people believe this?" is a legitimate question about a place, even when the answer to "was it built by a lost civilisation?" turns out to be no.
Several places here appeared in Graham Hancock's Netflix series. I've marked which ones. That is not an endorsement or a rebuttal. It is just useful context, because a lot of people arrive at these sites through that show and deserve to know what the excavation reports actually say alongside what the documentary said.
