Korte versie: als je de cookiemelding hebt geweigerd, weet deze site helemaal niets over je.
Wat er wordt verzameld
Eén ding, en alleen als je ermee akkoord bent gegaan: Google Analytics 4, dat bezoekers telt en laat zien welke pagina's worden gelezen. Dat is de volledige omvang van de meting op deze site.
Als je hebt geaccepteerd, plaatst Google Analytics cookies op je apparaat (genaamd _ga en _gid) en registreert het je globale locatie, welke pagina's je bezoekt, hoe lang je blijft, welke site je hierheen stuurde, en je browser- en apparaattype. Je IP-adres wordt ingekort voordat het wordt opgeslagen.
Als je hebt geweigerd, gebeurt dat allemaal niet. Het script wordt helemaal niet geladen, er worden geen cookies geplaatst en er gaat geen data ergens heen. Dit is geen instelling die stilletjes op de achtergrond blijft meten.
Waar de gegevens heen gaan
Google Analytics is operated by Google, and data is processed on servers including servers in the United States. Google is certified under the EU to US Data Privacy Framework, the adequacy arrangement adopted by the European Commission in July 2023, which is the legal basis for that transfer.
The legal basis for the processing itself is your consent, given through the notice at the bottom of the screen. Data linked to the analytics identifier is retained for a limited period and then deleted.
Wat deze site niet doet
- Geen advertenties, geen advertentienetwerken, geen advertentiecookies.
- Geen verkoop of deling van gegevens met wie dan ook.
- Geen profilering, geen retargeting, geen volgen over andere websites.
- Geen nieuwsbrief tenzij je zelf je adres invult.
- Geen accounts, geen inloggen, en geen reactiesysteem dat je gegevens zou kunnen opslaan.
The site is a set of static files. It has no database and no server that could store anything about you even if it wanted to.
Links naar andere sites
The Library links out to sacred-texts.com, Project Gutenberg and the University of Oxford's ETCSL. The Discoveries pages link to journals and repositories. Once you click through, you are on their site and their privacy terms apply, not these.

You can also clear cookies for this site in your browser, which has the same effect. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your data, and to complain to a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
